Fixtures & Faucets

66 resources

Fixtures and faucets are where the rubber meets the road: they're the hardware your customers touch every day, they fail unpredictably, and they're subject to code, material science, and manufacturer innovation that keeps shifting under your feet. Understanding what's available, what codes actually require, and how to install and specify the right piece for the job is non-negotiable. A bad faucet choice costs you callbacks; a missed code detail costs you time and money on a jobsite.

The trade right now is caught between three forces. First, manufacturers are moving faster on innovation—new connection technologies, sustainability standards, and efficiency mandates are reshaping what's on the shelf and how you install it. Second, the code landscape is tightening; standards bodies are actively rewriting requirements and seeking input from practitioners, which means what was acceptable two years ago may not be now. Third, the skilled trades themselves are tightening—shops are competing harder for qualified techs, and younger workers need solid training pathways to understand not just *how* to swap a cartridge, but *why* a particular spec or connection method matters for that building. The manufacturers and code bodies know this, and they're investing in education and standardization to lock in their position.

Focus on staying current with code changes, understanding the connection technologies your major suppliers are pushing, and building competency in your team around both old standards and new ones. The gap between what your experienced guys know and what the next generation needs to learn is only widening.
